The Associates of the James Ford Bell Library is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, established in 1963 to support the mission and activities of the James Ford Bell Library.

Its mission:

To recognize and support, by financial and other means, the acquisition, cataloging, preservation and conservation of materials for the James Ford Bell Library; its reference and research functions; its participation in the University's academic mission by its curators' teaching of classes, seminars, and presenting of lectures; its outreach to both scholarly and general public audiences through exhibits, lectures, publications, and media presentations; and its general participation in the life of the University and the State of Minnesota.
