Olavius, Ólafur, 1741-1788. Oeconomisk reise igiennem de nordvestlige, nordlige, og nordostlige kanter af Island. Copenhagen, Gyldendals Forlag, 1780.

This economic survey by Olavius concentrates on northern Iceland and contains detailed references to mining, shipping and fishing. Icelandic waters have always been extremely productive fishing grounds and have been fought over in this century.

Troil, Uno von, Archbishop of Uppsala, 1746-1803. Brieven betreffende eene reize in het jaar 1772 na Ysland. Leiden, S. en J. Luchtmans, 1784.

The first Dutch edition of Troil's book on Iceland. Sir Joseph Banks, Daniel Solander, and Dr. James Lind accompanied Troil on the expedition to Iceland. The book includes this wonderful engraving of Geysir. It has been inactive for quite some time, though active for a short period following an earthquake in 1896. Geysir, Icelandic for gusher, gave its name to all such phenomenon the world over.
